Our Walk Today and Rolling...

Hi all, we apologise for our absence this week, SHE, our PA went away to stay with a friend...without us...can you believe it?

Anyway we were treated to a great walk today to make up for it, here is half of it, we'll post the second half another time - we've been working on extra treats too due to emotional distress caused by abandonment and so far it's working ;-)

Here's our walk, this is the pathway leading into OUR first field, this part takes time as there are sooo many smells to check out:
Past the blackberry bushes which aren't so good this year but nearly ready for picking:
Then up to the first of several little bridges leading to one of the big fields:
Soon time for me (Dexter) to stop and have a furtle, for those new to the word this means to get your nose right in there and have a good sniff around, it's a word we've always used and we know Winnie the greyhound does too - we're trying to get it in the official doggy language dictionary!
Next Louis finds something very interesting which needed investigating, a worm maybe?
At the end of the first field is our treat stop, we run ahead and sit here waiting because we ALWAYS get a treat here if we have been good :-)
Next stop the woods, we just missed a squirrel today, he shot up the tree just as we arrived, this is the entrance:
Wild pear trees on the way in along with apples and hazelnut trees:
There are 100's of trees, which one to leave pee mail on first...I could be some time!
After a good furtle through the woods it's across another little bridge to the next part of the walk, hope you enjoyed the trip so far, we'll finish it another time :-)
Finally Louis has made an instructional video for the benefit of all the new Pupsters who have arrived recently in blog land, this one's for you - watch and practice next time you're out, find the smelliest piece of ground and...
Thanks for visiting, we hope you enjoyed the roll!! :-) have a great weekend all, we'll be round to visit you all over the next couple of days, Dex and Lou xxx

PS - I'm still looking for a Pawm date if any laydees need an escort ;-)

** Edited to add Rubie said yes!!! As long as I get her home early and we all go together in the Limo she's allowed to go, how lucky am I???!!*

You know, Lou and Dex, we just love that word "furtle". Mom says Lightning is a great furtler, he loves to burrow for bugs.

Blackberries?? If they are as good as blueberries, we would love to taste them too.

Phantom has been itchy lately, and he tries to roll on his back to scratch it, but he is too old to do it right. He was quite intrigued by your style in rolling, Louis.

We've started to use the word furtle since you introduced us to it.

Louis, we're very impressed with your rolls. Kendra just does the half roll back and forth....several complete rolls. We'll show her the video.

Hi Y'all!

The furtling is curtailed here by the Human 'cause she's 'fraid a snake will get me. I still manage to get a real furtle from time to time!

The blackberry season wasn't much here in the high country or in the low country this year. It has long been over both places.

I'd love to visit your beautiful walks and forests. They look so different from ours! Looks like the wild tangles and briars are totaling missing making for great open runs in the shade of the trees. :) Bet they smell different too!

Unfortunately the kill joy Human says dogs coming from the U.S. get quarantined upon arrival on the other side of the pond. I don't really understand?

Y'all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog

Furtle is wonderfully apt and that lovely walk you had...we're on our way to the beach now. We want a walk too!

My word for furtle is to "schnoofle" ...... mum wanted to put more schnauzer ooompf into it.

That walk looks great...and you don't even head off to the horizon!! Your rolling is impressive Lou!

I have been hanging out to go to the pawm....but mum is thinking I'm a little too young..... AND I don't have a dress either!!!!! (if I did have a dress I would **lurve** to go with you Dex (**blushes**) (**swoons**). I'm just sayin' as Frankie would say!

Hi Dex and my Beau Louis! I just love the way you both furtle! I do that too!

I also like to roll in deer poo. That is my favorite. We have foxes now and Mom won't let me even go in MY yard. She says the foxes outweigh me by 3 or 4 times! She keeps me on my leash in my OWN back yard. Oh well I guess that is OK I sure don't want to be a fox dinner or breakie either!

Dex, looks like Rubie is wantin a date with your good lookin self! She is worried that she doesn't have a dress but that is totally optional! FUR rules!

Woos and Hugs, Tessa

Hi Dex! I've checked with my mum, and she says if we share the Limo, and I'm home early and you are the pawfect schnauzerman, I CAN GO!!!!!

I will have to think seriously of what I can wear as I know Tessa will be looking smashing!! I'll get my mum onto it!!

PeeS: I haven't had a fur cut in a while because it's been Winter you know, so I'm afraid I won't be looking as gorgeous as I can be!!

(** happy paw clapping**)

Great to see you our urtling again. Love the rolling. I've been told that my brother Kaska when he was young and fit used to love to roll like that and one day he did it by a river and fell in! Luckily Leigh grabbed him before he got swept away :-) Hoping I can get to blog again soon. My little sister is so much of a handful she's taking all the time of my humans so no new pics yet. You really made me laugh- your rolling antics are superb! the walk looks lovely, ideal for little schnauzer noses with so many lovely smells and much ground so fertile for furtling! I am going to add "furtle" and "pee-mail" to my vocabulary. Priceless!!!

Oskar said...

As a scnauzer I am an expert furtler. I'm glad you gave it a good name. I think it should be an official term. Excellent rolling, also.

Can't wait to see everyone at Pawm!

That is some beautiful scenery! I love the rolling video. Oscar does that - sometimes in multiples too - but only if I ask him to while holding a treat in my hand. :)

Was there supposed to be sound with your video?

You sure know how to roll! You should be in the Olympics, you're obviously a pro!

I love that word, "furtle." I took my dad's dog on a walk today and he furtled every 10 steps or so. At first I was annoyed because I had things to do, then I remembered he hadn't been on a real walk since my dad passed on and I felt bad so I let him furtle to his heart's content.

Congrats on your date to the prom! My boys wanna go too but they don't know who to ask. At this late date, all the ladies have probably already accepted dates with others.

Our neighbor has one and she is 14 years old and still full of FIRE! Your comments and visit are a warm welcome from abroad, for just after you, a dear chum from England also came to visit. Lovely, this blog world!

Hey I trust you to look after my Sis, I'll be keeping an eye on her anyway ;)
Is there an official doggy language dictionary, ifs there not I think you should start one, I need help with words sometimes, I got told I should say BOL not LOL!! I know BOL means Bark out loud, but I look at it and think Bowl over Laughing. I'll stick to Laugh out loud, that's more me.
Great walk and a furtle, now I know what that ment.
I'll be back for part two.
Have a good week
See Yea George xxx

Nice furtling you two, but looks like Alfie should be teaching you the joys of fruit picking too. Those blackberries would not have lasted two minutes with this Labrador around, yum! not tried pear yet but they looked tasty we have wild apple trees on my walk I often help myself to them.
