Our Note for Absence!

Hello Bloggy Buddies!

We needed the Momster to come on and give our note for absence and hope we'll be forgiven ;-) She's now told her surgery will probably be before Christmas so it's a mad panic here now getting everything done, as she'll be in a sling for a while after. Anyway she'll be back good as new and ABLE TO TYPE with two hands hopefully in a few weeks! We'll keep reading what you're all up to and try to post again before Christmas. Meanwhile we're sending out as many cards as we can but some may be New Year Cards! Back really soon, hope everyone is really well, don't forget us :-) Dex and Lou xxx

Birds and Happy Thanksgiving

Morning all.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our Blogville friends across the pond. We hope you all have a fabulous day, eat lots of turkey which your humans will have spent hours preparing for you and have fun!! We can't wait to see all the photo's of your Special Day.

Well we hope we're not too late to pawticipate in Sarge's 'Give us the Bird' event. We have to post a photo of a bird - any bird - and we thought of this one straight away. This is one from back in the summer when the days were long, the hours of sun stretched on, the walks were long .... ahhhhh ..... ooops sorry going off there!

Anyway this is our contribution, we've named him Captain Beaky! He probably has another name but we liked that one, he's about 4 feet tall too! He's a Rhea who lives at a farm shop not too far away, they sell their eggs their and they are Ginormous!!
Captain Beaky

Am I handsome or what???
Hope you like him!

Have a wonderful day everyone and a great holiday 'over there' - we wish we could come and join in the fun. Tho Old Dear here said to make sure you know she is reading all of your blogs even if she can't reply to all because of her shoulder - blimey we might have to think about a younger model for a PA, this one's fast falling apart ;-)

Goodbye to Kaska...run free at The Bridge

Hello all,

A bit of a sad day today as we heard some sad news. This is a goodbye post to one of our blogging buddies, Kaska who was Magic's older brother. He was so well loved by Leigh and Judith as well as all the other dogs. We just want them to know we are thinking of them and know you will all want to send them big doggy hugs at this time, it never gets any easier to say goodbye, but hopefully it will be a tiny little comfort knowing that we're all thinking of you and Kaska and his wonderful life.

Run free at Rainbow Bridge Kaska little fella.

Kaska with his Dog of Courage Awards from DBARC in recognition of his struggle with disability after his spinal cord trauma.

Kaska on an outing the day before he died.
If you would like to leave a message here for Leigh and Judith I know they will read it, Love Di, Dex and Lou xxxx

(PS we were planning to post on Sarge's Bird Event today but think this is best posted on its own so we'll be doing that on Friday)

Happy Birthday Dexter!!

Morning all, Louis here for a change! I came on to wish my Big Bro a Very Happy Barkday, he's SIX today, blimey that's ooooold, 42 in hooman years so he may be out buying a Harley soon ;-)

Anyway much excitement here as he had a Hairmail letter, that will be expalined :-) It was ALL THE WAY from Australia, from his bestest girl Rubie Lou.

Birthday Boy investigating...sniff...sniff
Yay - my girl remembered!
Guess what Rubie put a little lock of her fur inside for him so he had a really good sniff! Dexter said thank you so much, he will treasure his card and his lock of fur!

Dex has a very restricted Diet after having such a bad bout of pancreatitis last year so no birthday treats but he's having his favourite White Fish poached for his tea, and as an extra present a mega long walk, extra furtling time is the best pressie he could have, and I get to go too - bonus!

The Momster asked me to add a note that she's still waiting for her shoulder surgery so finds the typing hard going sometimes but she's doing her best to keep up with everyone for us when she can!

Love Louis and Birthday Boy Dexter xxx

Edited to add a not from Dex

hey guess what - here is a lovely photo of my special girl when she wrote the card to me, what a stunner eh?!!
Rubie Lou
She even wrote about me on her blog today - I am such a lucky boy xxx

Last Years Snow, Winter Days and Stuff...

Hi Peeps, what a difference a couple of weeks makes! From glorious sunshine we are now feeling the chill as Winter is upon us. We know there has been a lot of early snow across the pond, and some of our friends have blogged about it. We've been warned of snow this year so for once we will be prepared!

What we need, and don't laugh, are some snow boots. Thing is last year we had days with NO WALKS because as soon as we got outside this happened:

Last Years Snow Feet...
The snow collected like great big snowballs on our paws and leg furnishings and were really heavy to lift, turning to ice and really painful to try and get off. The Peeps don't really like the idea of Booty Boys but are investigating possibilities. If anyone has experience we'd be grateful for recommendations.

Now folks don't forget it's only a week or so now to get your details in for the fabulous Blogville Card Exchange! If you have particular buddies you'd like to send a card to this Christmas, get your name on the list and you'll be sent addresses to get sending! We are collecting non US details and only have a few so far :-( Thank you to those who have sent in already!

Click on the photo for full details
Also can everyone wish Blogvillians Magic & Co good luck at The Northern Schnauzer Club of GB show this weekend!

Finally we are glad to report that the second night of Fireworks saw Louis a lot calmer. The Body wrap definitely helped, he still wasn't a happy pup but didn't spend the night shaking so we'll be continuing with that this Christmas/New Year when the fireworks are about.
Enjoy the rest of the week all, we'll be round to visit you all today and read what you've been up to, Love Dex and Lou xxx

Louis and the Fireworks

Hi all,

Well, Bonfire Night is here and it looks like it's going to be a long one. The fireworks started about 5.30 pm and are still going 4 hours later. Some of our friends in the USA asked what Bonfire Night was, well in a nutshell in 1605 Guy Fawkes tried to blow up The Houses of Parliament, at the time the public lit bonfires in celebration of the 'Gunpowder Plot's failure and burned effigies of Guy Fawkes. Our Momster remembers being a child in the 1960's and going around town with a Guy Fawkes made of her Dad's old clothes stuffed with newspaper to ask for 'penny for the guy'!

Anyway, tonight Louis has been a little better. It was recommended he wear a tight coat as this makes him feel more secure and also SHE put the body wrap on him that she ordered this week. He stood like this without moving for ages, just his back legs shaking. Usually I am making fun of Louis but I did feel sorry for him.

I'm looking on a bit bemused by all the fuss over poor Louis
Eventually she had to pick him up, he was like a wooded dog with his legs stiff as a board, and she put him in his travel crate which is dark and cosy but he can see out through the netting. This was after one loud bang which saw him nearly strangle himself when he shot round behind the PC and got the wire tangled around his neck! Anyway so far so good, he is in his den and is eating the odd biscuit that is passed through to him, so he's not as stressed as he was. We're thinking the celebrations will probably go on until about midnight as there are a lot of private parties so meanwhile they've turned the TV up loud and we're settled in for a long night.

As for me, I've been down the garden, checked out what all the fuss is about, the peeps think I may be deaf but I just think I'm brave ;-)

Thinking of all the other poor dogs suffering out there tonight, it will soon be tomorrow thankfully!

You just can't get the Staff...

Hello Friends!

Well, we are thinking of advertising for a new PA - this one is on a Final Warning! Not only has she failed to write up our adventure on Halloween but she has fallen out with the photo thingy on the computer and is using a lot of bad words, she needs the photo's to go with the story evidently.

We can only apologise and promise that our adventures will be coming soon, as soon as she makes friends with Photoshop again ;-)

Meanwhile you might like to see our new Bandana's - she made us some to slip on our collars, I'm modelling it - we've got a Christmassy star one now too!

Bandana Boy Dex
It's Bonfire Night here on Saturday which is the night the Peeps dread most each year. I'm not bothered with the fireworks but they drive Louis crazy, and he gets the trembles terribly. The Momster has bought him a body wrap to see if it helps, we'll let you know how that goes. My Uncle Ian reckons I don't have a problem with Fireworks because I was born in November and was a young Pupster all through the Firework season November - January. Any one else find this? That was also a little hint that it's my birthday on the 17th ;-)

Have a great weekend all and Keep Safe this Firework Night! Dex and Lou xxx

The Momster's Back!

Morning Furiends, hope everyone has had a good week so far. We are happy bunnies here because the Momster is back from her holiday which means PA services are resumed - bol!!

As we told you she went without us but it was still a doggy holiday - just no dogs! This is where they stayed, it was in Winchester, Hampshire

The luxury Cabin
The story behind the trip is this. Nearly 6 years ago when the hoomans got me as a Pupster they joined a forum all about Schnauzers to get advice and make friends. Well, the Momster made extra special friends with 3 other ladies and they have become really close online friends and seen each other through some difficult times too. It was a dream come true for them all to meet up for the first time. We can't include photo's of the meeting yet because this is what the magazine is writing about - how exciting is that!! If it wasn't for us she wouldn't know these friends so we think she owes us big time!

These are our Cousins whose Moms went on the trip too:

Darwin and Mia

Henry and Scruff

Buster
We imagine that the majority of the time was spent talking about us, why wouldn't it be??!! However we think they may have found a little time to themselves, there was talk about a hot tub, shopping and pubs!

On a different note we will have some exciting news at the weekend about the Blog land Christmas Card Swap. We are helping Jazzi's Mom with collecting details of everyone who is taking part so watch this space for more news on that!! Have a great week everyone, Love Dex and Lou xxx

Training Days and Doggy Friends

Morning all,

Well it feels like Winter is just around the corner as we woke up this morning to a brrrrrrrrr morning, so it was breakfast and straight back under the blanket for us :-)

Only a short post today because SHE is going away this weekend, more to report on that next week, however it is very exciting and doggy related.

Louis will be missing training this weekend, which means he'll also miss seeing his classmates. Here's a photo of them a few weeks ago when the sun was still shining. You can see Louis second from the left next to his cousin Kaydee the Boxer and his friend Tara on the other side.

Louis and his buddies
You can click on the photo for a better view if you like. Of course I (Dexter) don't need training - although I was a little concerned to hear HER say I could do with a refresher as I'm getting a bit too big for my boots. Now what's THAT supposed to mean, everyone knows I run this household ;-)

Have a lovely weekend everyone and our PA will be back next week with a report on the weekend. Meanwhile we'll be sneaking upstairs and sleeping on her side of the bed for 3 whole nights - yippee!!!! Dex and Lou xxx

Another photo session...

Hello Peeps! We hope you've all had a lovely weekend, we had quite a lazy one but a few good trips around the woods in between.

The Momster is very excited as it seems we, ie her really, are going to be in a magazine, we'll tell you more nearer the time, just to keep you in suspenders bwah ha ha!!As a little teaser we MIGHT be in it with some friends we've introduced you to on here ;-)

Anyway she had to send them a photo of her with us, of course they would want US in it, so on this occasion we agreed to pose for the flashy box.

This is the final photo, as you can see I'm sat by the side of her and getting pretty fed up by this time and have my Victor Meldrew face on. For those buddies across the water he's a funny TV character who is a very grumpy old man!
As this is about the only photo we have of us with her that she has not deleted we thought we'd include it today. Until it probably gets deleted next week, she says she looks much younger in real life - bwah ha ha...bwah ha ha...ha ha ha....must go and lie down, my sides ache.

Love to all and we'll see you all soon, Blogger was being silly for us but hopefully is back to normal now. Dex and Lou xxx

Angels with Dirty Faces...

Hello Everybuddy! Hope you've all had a good week and those who were feeling poorly and having to see the V-E-T are feeling much better!

We've had a few days of wonderful sunshine again - yay! Yesterday we went down to our Grannies for the Popster to mow her lawn and tidy up the garden ready for Winter. The first thing we did was rush down to the bottom of the garden to check the sheep in the field behind the house, we like to stop and pass the time of day with them. Guess what we found?

Our sheep friends have gone and instead we have a field full of slugs in the next field - what's that all about? Our Momster tells us these are not giant slugs but big bales if hay wrapped up ready for the winter in black plastic, hmmm...not sure about that...this is going to need some investigation we can see. There is a railway line which runs right behind this field, imagine across the middle of the photo which sometimes has the Orient Express on it and sometimes a Thomas the Tank Engine - we'll try and get some pics of that for you sometime.
We had a few hours chasing the lawn mower and making lots of noise and eating lots of the lovely green stuff.
Louis
We must admit we did get our faces pretty dirty, Louis's beard came off worst as he's got the longest but it was worth enduring the torture of the beard wash later for all the fun we had. We didn't manage to silence the mower thingy sadly so that job still has to be done another day - we'll keep barking at it until it shuts up, you'll see!
After a hectic day of fun in the sun there was only one thing to do last night - sleeeeep, and dream of talking sheep :-)

Have a lovely weekend everyone - we'll be round to visit you all over the next couple of days and catch up on the Blogville News.  Dex and Louis xxx

Monday 10 October 2011

Windy Days and Mondays...

Morning all, Dexter here. Monday morning again, and a real change in the weather. We have howling wind today - it whooshes around the house and makes such a noise, it doesn't bother me but Louis is really scared and runs and hides behind the sofa shaking, he's always been mega noise sensitive - any of you peeps have problems with noise? We're dreading bonfire night with all the fireworks next month, we've asked a trainer friend of ours for advice but if any of you have any ideas it will be gratefully received by the Peeps :-)

Sniffing the breeze...Louis doesn't mind the wind in his beard outside at all
Meanwhile we've been enjoying some good walks, the cows are still in our favourite fields but hopefully won't be for much longer and we can return there for our winter furtling grounds...can't wait to see what's changed, and any new rabbits that have moved in!
Our Winter Furtling Ground - can't wait to get back!
Anyway, hope you're all having a good day so far and enjoy the rest of it. Take care all, love Dex and Lou xxx

Wordless Wednesday and Crafty Things

Clipper fury...

Well, not quite wordless, that would be impossible from us ;-)

Don't forget it's Safety Week this week in Blog Land, with lots of advice for keeping us and our hoooomans safe and sound. Check out Sarge's blog (bottom of post) for a list of blogs to visit :-)

Finally, Frankie wanted to see what the Momster had been up to at her sewing machine so here is one of the things she has been making ready for Christmas, these little trees, we haven't managed to get one off the table yet to de-stuff or leave pee mail on, it but we're working on it.

See you soon all, have a lovely rest of the week and stay safe! Dex and Lou xxxxx

Indian Summers...

Hi all, well having posted that the weather was changing for the worst there has been a complete change this week as we enjoy an Indian Summer. This was what the sky looked like today
Indian Summer Skies
Actually this was the most cloud we saw, by this afternoon the sky was clear, and it was hot, hot, hot!! So hot we had to have a clip as we were both too hot in our furs but we were brave and put up with it for copious amounts of treats ;-)

Anyway, those friends over here, do enjoy this last blast of summer, whilst those buddies of ours across the seas - we hope you are making the most of the end of summer whatever you're getting up to :-)

We'll be back to normal blogging very soon, our Momster has a Craft Party at the weekend and we can't get her away from the sewing machine, she's getting in a right panic! Love to all, and see you at Blogland Safety Week! (click to go to Sarge's blog for details)

Still wood walking weather thankfully!

It's that time of year again...

Hi Blog Land Buddies! It's Louis here, i thought I'd sneak in here and post to you all while Dexter is busy snoozing. I'm getting a bit concerned as the weather gets cooler and the rain comes more often that it is getting to be (*whispers*) coat time again! Now, Dex has a nice double coat which means that the rain sort of slides off his furs but I was at the back of the queue for coats and mine is soft and velvety. That means I am forced to endure this...
I am not impressed
This was taken last year, I think you can see by my doggy language that I am NOT impressed! I'm sure all the other dogs laugh at me, I know Dexter does...grrrrr. This year I am thinking of starting a campaign, 'Dogs against Doggy Coats!' I'm sure your Peeps will hide this post from you but if you manage to sneak on when they're not looking please leave your support in the comments.

This is a controversial issue but one we must address. Will update as events occur re wearing of said article. Love to all of you and especially my Lady Tessa, Louis xxx

Tuesday 20 September 2011

How do you sleep?

Hi all, the weather here has definitely taken a turn for the worse which means less time lazing in a sunny garden and more time stretched out on the sofa catching a dog nap. Over the years we have tried many sleeping positions and always come back to our favourites, Louis loves to sleep on his back:
and so to dream.....
Whereas I go for the upside down technique too but love to have my head hanging upside down off the sofa, now that's comfy :-)
zzzzzzz...........
So, how do you love to sleep?, we'd love to know. Hope you're all having a great week out there in Blog land, Love Dex and Lou xxx

A Stranger in our midst...

Hi all, First of all we would like to apologise for not posting as often as WE would like, you know who to blame...our PA, don't worry we've had words with her!

As you know it was her birthday last week, we couldn't believe it when she said she was getting a DOG! Turns out his name is Dougal and all he does all day is sit there and keep the door open. Still, he's cheap to keep and she says the best behaved dog she's ever had. Cheek - has he got the character of a Schnauzer though - eh??

He hasn't said much yet...

...and didn't even want a treat after flashy box!!
Well, we'll probably let him stay, he's been no trouble so far anyway.

Finally Louis went to the V-E-T on Monday for his annual booster. There's been no living with him since. Evidently he was nice to the six dogs in the waiting room, sat perfectly for the I-N-J-E-C-T-I-O-N, and the vet said she LOVED him and that he was fabulous, he even got treats!

As things stand I may trade him in for Dougal although he's bound to be naughty soon and fall off his pedestal, or I may have to push him - bwah ha ha, :-) Have a great rest of the week all, Love Dex and Lou xxx

Sunday 11 September 2011

It's her Bithday...

...today and fortunately that means one thing, we are gonna have a houseful of visitors later - yay!!! Two of our favourite nieces will be visiting, this is one of my favourite photo's from when I was a mere pupster and I got mahooosive cuddles from them all the time!

Louis didn't want to be left out so we'll also be seeing our Granny who is also an expert at the doggy cuddles - this is Louis Pupster when he first joined us:
Unfortunately with so many cuddles ahead this means one thing - we have to have a B-A-T-H this morning...yikes, run for the hills!

Still, I suppose we need to smell and look good for OUR public, oh yes I forgot ...Happy Birthday to the Momster :-)
Have a great day everyone, we'll be round to visit soon,  Dex and Lou xxx

A Surprise in the Post!!!

Hi all, well - huge excitement here today. We got back from our walk with the Popster and SHE was sooo excited, a parcel had come to us from Wyatt in America! It was following on from his fabulous County Fair Day where we entered the show and Wyatt was kind enough to give wonderful prizes. We were still wet from our walk and being dried off but SHE couldn't wait, nor could we actually, so excuse our drying towel being on display :-)
I got my head in the box and had a rummage
...then we had a game of trying to get both of our heads in the box!
and then, when we finally got our goodies out, she made us SIT STILL for a photie-o-graph - can you believe it, anyway we found a fabulous fish toy, some tasty treats AND a personalised blue ribbon!!
Come on...for goodness sake!
Yay - look what I caught!
Then as a final insult we had to pose with a TREAT in front of us, they were so worth waiting for though, our favourite - liver!!!
Spot the treat!
Thank you so much Wyatt, we loved our surprise!!
Hope everyone has got over the holiday weekend festivities, we'll be visiting everyone in the next day or so to see how you have all recovered! Dex and Lou xxx

Oh What a Night...

...early September 2011, that's what we all changed the words to of this great song last night at the Pawm!

It was such a great night, we have a few more photo's to share with you, we hope everyone is well this morning, some of the pups may have overdone it on the wally melon goodies and may be spending quite a while in the garden today ;-)

Here are our official Pawm photo's, the laydeeees there all looked so fantastic but none as lovely as ours
Here I am with my Rubie
Louis and his date Sweet Tessa
Well you saw our Limo, well now you can see INSIDE! We had a mini pawty before we even arrived, the mini bar was filled with milky bones and wally melon and some sparkling water and Tessa got the giggles at the bubbles going up her nose.
Tessa kept telling me to sit down Dexter!!
Well the Pawm itself was unbelievable with lights and music and food and everything you can imagine to make a special night. Rubie and I did ourselves proud with our Pawltz but Louis and Tessa cleared the dancefloor doing this Dogtrot!
Tessa Newton John and Louis Travolta!!
So, all in all a night to remember, it was Pawfect, the laydeees have been dropped home on time as warned by their Dads, a hoooooooge thank you to Boondocks for holding the Pawm, we look forward to next years!  Dex and Lou xxx

Pawm Night Nerves...

Well the night has finally arrived peeps and we're off shortly to pick up our laydeees, Tessa and Rubie. We are extremely nervous even though we have been practising the Pawltz and the Dogtrot all day, Louis taking the girls part of course! We've just had a good bath and brush up and put on some boys pawfume and we'll soon be ready to go and pick up our girls :-) The limo's waiting so we'll be repawting back as soon as we have more photie-o-graphs for you,
